From the looks of that, I suspect that all you need to do is to install the Service Pack using the standalone update from here...

Note that it's wise to disable any and all anti-virus protection you may have as that is a prime cause for a service pack installation failure.

I did try allowing the update to install without AV enabled and got the same thing.
I ran the SFC /Scannow prior to posting or are you referring to another hard drive/windows check?

The 'hard drive check' is actually a CHKDSK /R - but I'd hold off on that until I can delve a little deeper into what I saw earlier (running CHKDSK on a potentially dodgy drive can cause it to fail catastrophically ).

Opt1 I completed but I believe I already did this prior to posting. No joy
Opt2 I couldn't find the RAST update. Followed the link to install whcih it allowed me to do. Restarted and re-tried but still no joy
Opt3 Am having problems finding the offending package in the system event viewer order to remove. Will continue with this one.

You're very unlikely to have a problem with the RSAT tools - they are fairly specialist beasts, and you'd almost certainly know if you'd installed a Beta version.
Post the logs - I'll take a look...
Open Event Viewer
click on the Windows logs entry in the left pane to expand it.
Now click on the Application entry - wait while it loads.
Click on 'File' in the menu bar and select Save...
Save the file as Appevt.evtx
Repeat for the System log
then zip both, and upload them.
