Solved Windows 7 Setup Issue Cannot see SSD on driver list

Trying to install Windows 7 x64 on a custom built desktop and once i boot the windows cd, i cannot see my ssd partition, only my HDD partition.

I have read online and tried various things but no luck

BIOS can see the SSD and i have attempted to use SSD in "IDE" & "AHCI" & "RAID"

Nothing works

HELP, cant handle not having a comp....

Windows has a hard time, sometimes, seeing RAW drives, IE drives that are not partitioned and formatted.
So get a boot CD that has a partitioning and formatting tool on it and boot the system from that. The Partition and format the SSD then try installing Windows.

How big is the partition and did you format it NTFS?

Disconnect all other drives, this should be done anyway when installing Windows so nothing from the Windows install get placed on any other drive then the one you want to install to.
Make sure the SSD firmware is up to date. You can go to the makers website and download a Utility that will check and update the firmware if needed.

yep it was NTFS,

so basically i need to plug the SSD into another computer, update the firmware and make sure there is still a NTFS partition before plugging it back into the problem computer....

if this is right so far, is there a way to update the firmware on the SSD without having another computer to plug it into

Yes if you get the firmware update it will also include a Boot system to start the system from a CD or DVD disc to do the update.

But make sure the SSD is the only drive connected and that it is connected to the first SATA port, which would be 0 (zero) or port 1, however your system labels the SATA ports.

secure wipe ( a ocz toolbox feature) solved the problem....

updated the firmware and did a secure wipe and its now visible in windows boot cd... thanks a million
