Windows 7 SP1 RC released

I installed, and it seems snappier, but i did notice a bug right away. When i click and hold on an icon or folder to try to move, it just opens, and won't move.

In my opinion you should not be Installing something you know nothing about, RC Stand's for Release Candidate.

So what changes do this Service Pack upgrade entail? I also read something about a bug which is why I'm not installing it till its bugging me in Windows Update, but just so I know what to expect, whats in this upgrade?

Well I got SP1 RC installed and i also went the Windows update route. Worked just fine.
So for little or no difference from the Beta.

I don't have an evaluation copy of windows 7 as it states but i do have an evaluation copy of SP1

I have been wondering if there really is a need to install SP1 if I've already installed all important updates to Windows? Even most of the optional updates too

When i unstalled the beta there were several updates that wanted to be reinstalled. I just update do it's thing.
If you have it already installed leave it alone unless you have some problems.
I've had zreo problems,but.... i dont't do games.

Someone had posted a blog report a few months back on what the SP1 was supposed to see while not being a lot to start with. It enables a few things as far as the finished SP would be concerned while this is still the unfinished version further along then the previous early beta release mainly for IT and software developers.

The latest updates came out after this RC release was made available to prep the system along with the need for the WUSignUpTool.exe you toss on first before running the SP Installer. The Readiness tool is the other thing to run first as well since that will download whatever else is needed ahead of time for preparing things.

On systems the particular av program or other protections may need to be removed if you are unable to prevent them from seeing any processes loaded up along with Windows that can hamper the SP install. I had to remove the free version of ThreatFire used to clear tracking cookies and data miners before one process could be halted to allow the SP on.

Works fine for me, also had the beta. Also have not seen any problems reported,yet.
Go for it. But back a backup or image first.

I added a PDF file to the first post for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 Release Candidate Notable Changes. So far, I haven't noticed anything that sticks out though.

There wasn't supposed to be anything major for this one even from the first information seen. Once you have it on I wouldn't be expecting much either way.

The one thing I noticed here was how fast it went on when looking back on the SPs for the previous versions as far as not being as large. I'll be taking some notes but so far any minor changes are being made behind the scenes and practically unnoticable.

only 23mb through the update site over others running about 96mb is small in comparison.

I used have many patch installed long list in control panel, now it's all gone, reinstalled clean OS, Installed SP1 RC show up in control panel just two patch files pix below.

I feel my pc runs snappier and stable.
