OK at present, today we had the sun, temps didn't get above 45 F and there's a nearly full moon in the sky, apart from that nothing much changes around me, that's if you don't count me getting shorter by the day

If you downloaded it from TechNet or MSDN yesterday or today, then you have the final code and it is the same. I don't like trusting updates and SPs from other sources.

That's up to you, to be honest. Since it is available now, I wouldn't bother with anything that wasn't obtained from an official source.

Downloaded the ISO for the Service Pack yesterday (from TechNet) and installed it on all the machines running 7 (and Server 2008 R2). Very lengthy install (45 minutes - 2 hours). Fastest on Server 2008 R2, which is a dual boot pc, dual-core AMD, with 7 Ultimate x64 of which SP1 took a bit longer to install. 1 laptop (2 yr/old Lenovo) running 7 HP took a little longer. The longest was my newest and fastest laptop, a triple-core AMD, running 7 Professional.

So in order from fastest install to slowest: Server 2008 R2, 7 Ultimate x64 (x2), 7 HP x64, 7 Professional x64.

I downloaded the sp1 from ms technet and the dvd ran and updated my toshiba laptop and my i7 machine in a short time. all seems well. It looks like it is a good one, can't see a lot of difference yet. I then went and updated my ie8 to ie9 and it seems to be ok. Good thing I made an acronis image before I did anything with sp1. So I am safe for a while. <G>

I have SP1 (from last month or so) on my USB Drive. I'm installing it now and my sister accidentally pulled it out while it was Installing. I'm going to reinstall it tonight, but I went through all those steps to have the Cleanest Install possible. Will this mess that up, or will SP1 overwrite the files that were installed in the previous attempt
