Windows 7 SP1 RTM due on February 16 for MSDN customers, Feb22 for web

Where can I download the full ISO version (I assume you mean full Win7 SP1 ISO)?

The last time I checked you could download the full ISO version or individual 7 x86, 7 x64, and 2008 server stand alone versions. The ISO when burned can do all three. Sometimes like with IE 9 you can download a web installer that is a small file that starts the installation. With that file you need an internet connection to download the rest and finish the install. Or you can download the full offline installer that contains all the files needed for the install and doesn't require a network connection. I usually download the full version and save it to a thumbdrive for use after a clean install. For windows 7, instead of downloading and burning the ISO you can just download the smaller file for 32 bit or 64 bit.

So, this is the RC for SP1. When the final release is out later this month, will this link you've provided also have the final release .iso? I assume it would.

Why would you be worried if the link will remain the same? Once the SP1 is made publicly available, you won't have any trouble finding the download links.

I understand that. I've been checking TechNet once a day, just in case. I'm sure the links for the real, final SP1 will be plastered anywhere and everywhere.

Once the finished SP1 is available you will start seeing the redistributable form at places like Softpedia as well as on the MS downloads center. In fact they apparently were asked to remove a link they had on their site prematurely?

They still carry the RC link posted and a changelog(list cf changes) still posted for the beta dated 6/25/10. The changelog can be looked at Windows 7 Service Pack 1 RTM Build 7601.17514.101119-1850 - Changelog - Softpedia

You can be sure they will be one of the first outside of MS to be providing a download link as they do for the SPs from previous versions.

IE9 / SP1 Have MS dropped the ball

Hi all

I don't know how these sort of developments get scheduled but to my pea sized brain it would make BLINDING sense to include IE9 in the SP1 release - as well as allowing for a separate download.

Since both are scheduled to be released at approximately the same time this to me seems a totally glaring mistake by MS NOT to incorporate IE9 into the SP1 - they could also make this an optional feature to install when you apply SP1.

Why make stuff for the END USER more difficult than it need be -- SP1 would in my eyes seem the OBVIOUS place to include IE9 on it.

Perhaps some of you guys who work in Software development can explain why MS couldn't do this - even if it's just internal politics / competition between the various development teams.

I would imagine that it's because of the European Union and how they managed to force Microsoft to strip IE out of their Windows-whatever install disks for their region and instead, provide an automated screen prompting the install for the browser of your choice after installation instead. If they integrated IE9 into SP1, the EU would be in another uproar over IE being forced onto consumers. So I suppose they figure its safer to just provide IE9 in another, separate update to avoid another litigation with the EU.

Even aside from the EU and their legal wrangling, it doesn't make any sense to include IE9 from an IT standpoint, either. SP1 is mainly a security roll-up. It has a few new fetaures here and there, but nothing earth-shattering. Many companies are (sadly) not even on IE8 yet, and since much of what we do is through our browsers now...SharePoint, Portals, etc....the browser should be separate so it can be handled/tested/troubleshot separately.

Well it's supposed to be on Technet today but I guess the left coast hasn't woken up yet....checking every 5 minutes...LOL

Am anxious to check the checksum MD5 or SHA1 numbers match the one I got from torrent. If they don't I will not be a happy camper.

It's showing up in my TechNet now....but only as integrated discs so far. Not that I'm complaining.

The EU Fine was high to MS including Windows Media Player in their OS aswell IE8 few years ago. That's why some Windows 7 K & N editions are striped.

I don't mind it, but it is only downloads and separate installs to do more in the long process having a Windows 7 Complete (for those choosen that way)!

OK, the downloads are now showing on Technet, available only to subscribers of course, so I can't post links. But I can post the checksum information for the complete operating system including the service pack as the service pack standalone downloads are not showing, sorry.

Technet only gives SHA-1 information and that is (along with file size):

You can check hashes using a neat little tool called HashTab, It adds a tab the right click/Properties of any file that'll show you the hash. You can use it to compare any two files.

Could those that are lucky enough to be able to obtain the integrated ISO files though MSDN or Technet, please post the MD5 checksums of their ISO downloads. I'm sure there are some like me that would like to double check them against what they downloaded though other means. I snagged Ultimate 32 and 64 bit that were leaked to the interwebs. I don't have access to MSDN or Technet.
