Trying to install SP1 gives me an error of 8024200D. I have tried the SURT with no luck.

There's only one error in the SFC scan..

I'll post a fix for it later, but I cannot believe that this would of itself block the install of SP1.

The 8024200D error actually means that the download hasn't completed.

I would suggest downloading the full installer for SP1 and using that for the install...

Download Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (KB976932) from Official Microsoft Download Centre - you'll need the 7601.17514.101119-1850_Update_Sp_Wave1-GRMSP1.1_DVD.iso file ,a dn to burn it to a DVD, using the Windows Disc Image Burner, or your own favoured disk burning option.

That's not showing any of the problems - perhaps another SFC may do?
Please run SFC /SCANNOW again, and post the new CBS.log file.

I've uploaded a file - jslaa.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
Please download and save it.

Right-click on the saved file and select Extract all...
Change the target to C:\ and click on Extract
Close all windows (it would be a good idea to print these instructions!)

Now reboot to the Repair Environment - as soon as the machine restarts, start tapping F8 - this should bring up the Advanced Boot Menu, at the top of which should be the option 'Repair my Computer'
Pick that
You'll have to log in with your username and password.

Pick the option to use a Command Prompt
At the prompt type
DIR C:\jslaa
hit the enter key - if you get a 'Not Found' error try
DIR D:\jslaa
or
DIR E:\jslaa

The drive letter in use when you find the folder will need to be substituted (for<drive>) into the following command...

XCOPY <drive>:\jslaa <drive>:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h

(e.g. XCOPY P:\wfire P:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h )

run the command (it should take almost no time) and when the prompt returns, type
EXIT
and hit the Enter key to exit Command Prompt - reboot to Normal Mode Windows.

Now run SFC /SCANNOW in an Elevated Command Prompt
then reboot and upload the new CBS.log file to your reply

SFC is at least clear now.

I need to have a look at the SP install logs...
start with the 'easy one' - C:\Windows\windowsupdate.log

What was the error message this time? Did you install from WU or from the standalone?

It seems that a Silverlight update is likely to be causing at least some of your problems.
I think perhaps we should be investigating that one more deeply - the error code is a more serious one than that from SP1, although the effect is the same.

You appear to have an AVG uninstaller running at boot - as the McAfee Site Advisor is failing to load.
We need to run the uninstall tools for these two products to ensure that all their dregs are properly removed.

Download the AVG Remover from here
http://www.avg.com/us-en/utilities
Follow the instructions for running it, and then reboot the machine (whether it asks for it or not, and whether the program rebooted already or not).

Download the McAfee removal tool from:

http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe

Click Save, and save the file to a folder on your computer.
Navigate to the folder where you saved the file.
right-click on MCPR.exe and select 'Run as Administrator' to run the removal tool.

when complete, reboot.

After the reboot, open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following command

NETSH WINSOCK RESET

You'll be advised to reboot - do so.

Then attempt ONLY the Silverlight update - if/when it fails, post the C:\Windows\windowsupdate.log file and I'll see what I can find.
