Windows 7 SP1 will not install, error 8024200D

I did and still got the same error when installing SP1. 8024200D

Please run the CheckSUR tool again, and post the new CheckSUR.log file - also the new windowsupdate.log file

Two questions:

1. Just to clarify, all of my programs and data will still be there, correct?

2. Since this is a Gateway laptop, do I have to use an OEM version of the installation DVD or will the download link provided be ok?

1) that's the theory - if everything works right (and it usually does) - but ALWAYS back up your data to external media first, just in case!

2) The download (it's a retail installation disk) will work fine - so long as your Product Key on the COA sticker is legible, and you use it at the proper time.
