Did you run all rounds of Important and Optional Windows Update to completion?

Did you wait for it to come through on Windows Update?

Did you see if you could do the installation at boot instead?

There's only one minor error from the SFC scan - but it could be enough to prevent SP1 from installing.

Please post the C:\Windows\windowsupdate.log file, and the C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log file.

The install problem appears to be this...
Code:
2014-09-08 07:40:35, Info CBS SPI: Reviewing Package_for_KB976932~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~6.1.1.17514. State: -19 Error: 0x8004401e

I suspect that CheckSUR may show something related.

It's clear anyhow ;)
Windowsupdate.log is interesting though - and may give us a pointer or two.

Please open an Elevated Command Prompt and run the following commands.

ICACLS C:\Windows\System32\wbem
ICACLS C:\Windows\System32\wbem\ServiceModel.mof
DIR C:\Windows\System32\wbem\*.mof

post the results.

Here are some instructions to make life easier :)
1) To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the ECP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt.
2) To run the commands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on the highlight – select Copy. In the CP Window, click on the black/white icon at top left – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the last command, so hit the Enter Key once.
3) To copy the results... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit... 'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to paste it into your response.

I've uploaded a file - wb2aa.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
Please download and save it to the desktop.
right-click on the saved file, and select ' Extract all…'
Extract to the default location - which will create a new folder wb2aa on the desktop

Please open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following commands.

COPY %userprofile%\desktop\wb2aa\ServiceModel.mof C:\Windows\System32\wbem
ICACLS C:\Windows\System32\wbem\ServiceModel.mof /grant NT_Service\TrustedInstaller:(F)
DIR C:\Windows\winsxs\ServiceModel.mof /S
DIR C:\Windows\System32\wbem\S*.*

post the results, then reboot and try the SP1 install again - then post the results of that.

So far so good - the error is my fault, I think.
