Hi, first post here, so apologies if this is a repeat of many other threads.

I, like many, decided to throw in the towel, and purchase win 7 for both my laptop and desktop pc. Laptop is new, desktop is a few years old.

Installation was easy on both, no problems, but I am suffering with some really horrendous instability issues, resulting in both laptop and desktop freezing, which both require a hard reset.
I only have minimal software installed on both, but noticed the problems started when I setup homegroup, and also shared one drive on my Desktop to the network

I can almost guarantee that any activity I perform over the network will result in instability, and its driving me crazy. I am almost at the point where I will uninstall W7 and resort back to XP.

Also, for some reason, when I tried to use 'logmein' on my desktop, after approx 5 seconds of a remote control session, W7 disables my network card! This requires a diagnostic everytime to get it working again.

Is this a known problem, with a fix resolution soon?

Hi and welcome

Yep known issue wint win 7. the fix is to use workgroup instead of homegroup. Doing so will allow you to turn off IPv6, which causes the random freezes and drops.

To change go into network and sharing where you set up networking in the first place. change the network type from homegroup to workgroup

Hope this helps and let us know if this doesnt help

Hi Ken

I am looking into this issue, and cant see where I set a workgroup over homegroup. I can however remove the IPv6 association in the Wireless Network Properties. Is this what you mean?
