My name is Dylan, and I recently bought an HP Mini personal computer with Windows 7 Starter. As weird as it may sound, I mostly use it for gaming purposes. That being said, MOST of the games I play require in-game hotkeys of their own, generally being f1, f2, etc. However, the only way I can get the in-game hotkeys to work is if I use fn + function hotkeys, shift + function hotkeys and ctrl + function hotkeys.

I've read upon some of the Win 7 starter threads and tried disabling my hotkeys once or twice, and it doesn't seem to work for me.

Is there anyway that I can COMPLETELY disable all function hotkeys?

I'd really like to play the games that I used to be able to play, but they become aggrevating and extremely difficult.

If anybody has any info, assistance or links I may have missed about disabling hotkeys, please reply.

Thank you in advance, Dylan.

The disable ONLY worked for my function 1 hotkey. All others are still enabled.

Thank you for your help though.

I have no idea where to find that stuff, but I do know it's HP, and it's a Mini netbook.

On my keyboard there's barely any room. There's no number pad, just a bunch of keys scrunched up together. I mean, this thing is 10" wide..

This is a registry edit. Use this fix at your own risk.

You need to start the system and login into the system as administrator.

Go to the start button on the task bar and select run window.
  1. In the run window type”regedit” and press the enter key.
  2. Now you need to browse to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer location in the left panel.
  3. Right click to create a new DWORD. The name of this newly created DWORD should be “NoWinKeys” or if there is an existing DWORD then you need to modify it and assign the number 1 to it.
  4. Now close the registry editor and restart the system so that the changes made should take place.
  5. After restarting the system hotkeys will be disabled.
Prehaps, another member will have some other suggestions to add.

There's no 'Current Version' under the Windows folder.
