Windows 7 Starter how can I speed up runs slow

I have Windows 7 Starter & it runs slow on a samsung netbook with 2gb ram. How can I speed up i have very few programs running in background when it starts up? Thanks Dorothy

Samsung N150 with 2 gb memory came with 1 and i doubled to max of 2gb
