Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit saved files to desktop doesn't show up

I have been experiencing same problem in the link above and on both my laptop and my desktop,,,,both of them have same windows 7 ultimate 64 bit

When I download any file to the desktop I am not able to see it unless I browse to the path C:\Users\john\Desktop,,,,then I would be able to see that file

Refresh doesn't fix the issue

I forgot to mention that I had already tried that but still I am facing same issue

Give this a shot; Uncheck the Show Desktop Icons and then go back and place the check in it again.

What command, what software are you using to save to the desktop?

Normally when I download from the internet using Internet Explorer , Firefox, Google chrome same problem and not only that I am facing same issue on two different computers.

Or If I download an attachment from my email client (Thunderbird and Outlook)

Do you have multiple users/profiles on these systems? If so, does this happen on very desktop?

If you only have one user - consider making a new user and see if that new user's desktop does this as well.

Good. Now let's see if you have a browser/mail setting problem
or
a total problem.

WIN | type CMD | ENTER
you are now at a command shell prompt
type following followed by hitting the ENTER key
wmic os get /all /format:list > %userprofile%\desktop\osall.txt

that will put a file on your desktop called "osall.txt".
Is that file on your desktop?

Incidentally, rather than trying to type that line is just as written:
highlight (ie, select) that line from the post.
CTRL+C to copy that line to the clipboard
go to the cmd window.
RIGHT-CLICK at the end of the command prompt
RIGHT-CLICK is how you paste from the clipboard into the command shell.

Oh yes,
EXIT will end the command shell

Excellent.

I've never tried to download directly to my desktop, but rather I download to my profile's download folder.

Please show the download location you have specified within either IE or Firefox. Those are the only two that I use.

Normally I used Firefox more than IE

Now I just took the snapshot above and pasted into the program IrfanView and saved the .jpg file to the desktop ,,,,I couldn't see the file's icon till I browse to C:\Users\john\Desktop.

Be aware that this problem happened intermittently (i.e some time I can see the saved icon sometimes I can't see it)

I just changed my to Desktop and download worked fine, although I do also use DownThemAll with Firefox.

Is your Firefox current?

I would recommend that you try the mozalline (firefox) chaps, although they and google have the worst support of any company.

and the next alternative to use Windows Defender Offline to see if you have malware.

Windows Defender Offline is NOT Windows Defender

Click on the WDO (Windows Defender Offline) link in my signature.
Put WDO on to a USB.
Run a full scan over all drives.
Post back the log files in:
\Windows\Microsoft Antimalware\Support

Im having the exact same issue downloads do not show on my desktop until i refresh.
Ran both malewarbytes and the male-ware scanner in Advanced System Care Pro, Windows Defender Offline and also AVG.

I also tried cmd: wmic os get /all /format:list > %userprofile%\desktop\osall.txt. It did place .txt on desktop but it did not appear until i refreshed. Any help would be appreciated ty : )

Your Profile | Edit System Spec (left-hand column)

To gather info, use Speccy (my favorite) or SIW or System Info

ADD the word laptop or desktop or netbook to the
“system manufacturer” block, for example,
Toshiba Satellite L305D notebook.

Provide full windows version info, for example:
MS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit

Use the “Other Info” block for Optical Reader,
Mouse, touchpad, wifi adapter, speakers, monitor, etc

Scroll down and click on SAVE CHANGES.

I recommend using SPECCY which will provide all the info you need and more.

In post #13, log files were requested.

Would you please upload those.
