I'm trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit onto my blank harddrive via usb that was setup with the microsoft application for doing so.

It adds new windows files to about 80% then give me this error:
Code:
Windows cannot install required files. The file does not exist. Make sure all the files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070002

Where did you get Win7? Can you burn it to DVD using ImgBurn at 4x speed?

If not try writing to flash stick using UltraISO trial version: On File tab Open ISO, on Bootable tab Write Disk Image, Format, Write. Boot under USB or HD's.

Have no disks to burn to. Already have tried writing it to my flash drive 4 times, same results every time.

Did you use a different method each time?

It sometimes takes several attempts using different methods to get it to work.

The one method which always works for me is UltraISO. Have you tried that already?

UltraISO keeps crashing anytime I try to extract to my flash drive.

Alright.. I can help you with this...

Can you give me a Full File assessment on how big your Windows 7 installation files are.. and how big of a flash drive you are using?

I can help you with this.. I just need to know...that you have the right things...

When you install windows.. you must only have the bare minimum on the computer:

Mouse, Keyboard... thats it.. no extras connected.

Secondly, make sure your computer can boot to a USB flash. Motherboard requirement.

Third, you need to put all your Windows 7 files into a folder on your desktop...make sure they are all there.. even hidden ones.

If you have all those things, then let me know and i'll tell you how to fix your flash to make it work.

Okay good...
Thanks....

Step 1: Open up Command Prompt in Elevation Mode
Run ==> cmd (right click, open with admin)

Step 2: type "diskpart"

Step 3: type "list disk"
Locate the flash drive... it will only show the gigs, not the label. Should be around 38**mb
Remember which Disk number it is... and be careful... if you do the wrong one.. you can delete wrong disk.

Step 4: type "select disk #" # is the number of the flash drive 1, 2 , 3 ex.

Step 5: type "clean"

Step 6: type "create partition primary"

Step 7: type "format fs=ntfs" may take a few minuets.

Step 8: type "active"

Step 9" type "exit"

This will put you back into the command prompt and out of diskpart.

Let me know when that is one.. there are just a few more steps after this....

Okay.. In the root directory of the Windows 7 files.... There is a folder called "boot".

What you are basically going to do is write the windows 7 boot sector to the flash drive.

What I would do to make it easier. Right click "copy" the "boot" folder to root directory of your hard drive... that way you don't have to type so much.

So what you are going to do next is:

Step 10: Open up your "My Computer" and make sure your are aware of the drive letter for your flash drive

Step 11: Hopefully you kept your elevated CMD prompt open.....
You will type first: "c:" enter
That will take you into the hard drive's root directory

Step 12: Then type: "cd boot" hit enter

Step 13: type "bootsect /nt60 *:" * being the drive letter of your flash drive.
Doing this should not take long at all...

Step 14.... Copy everything from the Windows 7 ISO extracted.. to the flash drive....

There... You are done.. the flash is now bootable with windows 7.

Step 15: Boot the computer using flash drive.

I know for a fact that this procedure works because I did my flash drive like this... If you are having the same problem of the windows installation failure at 80% than it will be your Windows 7 Setup Files and suggest that you find another set of files that are workable.

So I extracted the boot folder and did all this.

Now I need to extract everything to the flash drive then boot?

Yes, everything in the Windows 7 goes right onto the Root Directory of the Flash Drive.. do not make a separate directory on the flash drive for the files, just right on top of the root because that way the boot sector will see the correct files.... it is very anal with this kinds of things.

Then you need to find another set of setup files. Those are corrupted. You don't have to redo everything again with the flash drive.

You just need to delete all the files off the flash and replace them with working files.

Where did you get Win7? The iSO is normally 2.34gb untouched. Check the HASH against Official HASH.

To elaborate on this, MSDN Technet ISOs:

W7 x64 Ultra ISO = 3.00GB (3,149,108 kb)
SHA-1 = 326327cc2ff9f05379f5058c41be6bc5e004baa7

W7 x86 Ultra ISO = 2.32GB (2,443,256 kb)
SHA-1 = 5395dc4b38f7bdb1e005ff414deedfdb16dbf610

mod: not sure if posting the SHA hash is OK here, edit my post if necessary.

Tried burning to disks and it is giving me the same error.

Thinking it may be my hard drive?
