Hello!

I followed Thrashzone's instructions from another thread to fix the update issue on my laptop, but it isn't working on our desktop, so here I am requesting some help.

HP Desktop P7-1019
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
Intel Pentium G620 @ 2.60GHz
4GB RAM

I've been playing around with different fixes and tools all day, but nothing seems to work.

Any help is appreciated...

I downloaded and ran the latest System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) a couple of hours ago and it's been stuck on Searching for updates on this computer the entire time.

Ran an SFC Scan- did not find any integrity violations

No error codes to report- the update screen just hangs for hours and hours.

CBS Log- attached; hope the compression worked.

Thanks for posting a reply, Archer. The first few steps were either already completed or didn't work.

#4: Offline Windows Update Tool seemed to have done something!

After following the steps in #4, my computer rebooted and I tried to do a manual windows update, but now I have a Windows could not search for updates; error code: 80244019

Hi and welcome to 7F.

What instruction from Thrash have you tried ?
Thrash is always morphing this fix into better and better ever day.
Did his instruction involve these updates as standalone install ?
Install KB3020369 & KB3172605 & KB3125574 updates as standalone.

You need to go to Microsoft catalogue and download these updates.
Make sure they are for your bitrate, according to your System Spec's you have x64.
Then you need to shut down windows update service.
Control panel/Administration Tools/Services/Windows Update. Double click and select "Stop", drop down window select "Manual". Re-boot.
Now go to your Updates you downloaded, I would advise install one update and re-boot install the next and re-boot etc.
After the last re-boot go back to windows update service and in the drop down select "Automatic (delayed start)"
No need to re-start updates just re-boot.
Now go to updates and search for new updates.

Good luck fingers crossed.
Wayne

Ok, so I followed your instructions.

KB3020369 - already installed
KB3172605 - already installed
KB3125574 - downloaded and installed

Checked for updates; installed the updates listed below then my computer flashed a blue screen and restarted?!

I checked for updates and it came up with error code 80244019 again.

Perhaps you've already done the following but, if not:

Make sure you have Internet Explorer v.11 installed and set to Default Browser.

Switch UAC off (type uac into the search bar and click on the link. Slide the UAC setting to zero. Try downloading updates, again.......Don't forget to switch UAC back on again, afterwards).

If no good, you can manually download the updates, in bulk and manually install them.

If one keeps getting stuck, hide it from the "search for" in updates options.

Good luck. :)
