Windows 7 update problems

Several months ago, Windows stopped updating.
I did everything I could find to do and, finally, gave up

Recently, it started trying to update when I shut down at night.
Every night it tried to install the same 65 updates but always fail.

I mostly get error 8007000D but have also gotten 8007370D.
I have downloaded the SURT tool but it won't install

My issue sounds like this one.

http://www.sevenforums.com/windows-...dows-7-doesnt-update-error-code-8007370b.html

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

My CBS zip file is 39 mb; too big to upload.

If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

Please also post the C:\Windows\windowsudpate.log file

My CheckSur file is 323MB

Is there a particular file in that folder that I may be able to zip?

I have attached the CBS log

The CheckSUR.exe file is the executable you downloaded at 323MB
The Checksur.log file I need is the one in the C:\Windows\Logs\CBS folder. Please zip it and upload it.
There was no SFC data in the CBS log - please upload the two most recent CBSPersist files - you'll have to zip them for upload, as the forum doesn't accept bare .cab files.

I'm sorry that I'm having trouble understanding and providing you what you need and appreciate your patience with me

The CBS zip files are too big; 13 and 16 Mb.
Is there an alternate way to provide them?
Google drive?

I have no file called Checksur.log

I do have the attached file

If there is no CheckSUR.log file, then either you haven't run the CheckSUR/SURT tool as requested, or you have some kind of auto-clean utility deleting log files. If the latter is the case, then please disable it until we have the problem solved.

Please run the tool and then post the resulting log file.

I hope one of these is what you need.

It took many multiple times to get the SURT to install

Thank you for your continued patience.

The log now is showing definite signs of the use of a registry 'cleaner' - probably Advanced System Care.
I would suggest UNINSTALLING it - or you'll simply end up with more problems in the near future.

I've uploaded a file - media64.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
Please download and save it.

Right-click on the saved file and select Extract all...
Change the target to C:\ and click on Extract
Close all windows (it would be a good idea to print these instructions!)

Now reboot to the Repair Environment - as soon as the machine restarts, start tapping F8 - this should bring up the Advanced Boot Menu, at the top of which should be the option 'Repair my Computer'
Pick that
You'll have to log in with your username and password.

Pick the option to use a Command Prompt
At the prompt type
DIR C:\media64
hit the enter key - if you get a 'Not Found' error try
DIR D:\media64
or
DIR E:\media64

The drive letter in use when you find the folder will need to be substituted (for<drive>) into the following command...

XCOPY <drive>:\media64 <drive>:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h

(e.g. XCOPY P:\wfire P:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h )

run the command (it should take almost no time) and when the prompt returns, type
EXIT
and hit the Enter key to exit Command Prompt - reboot to Normal Mode Windows.

Now run SFC /SCANNOW in an Elevated Command Prompt
then reboot and upload the new CBS.log file to your reply

The errors are still the same :(
These errors aren't usually (if ever) caused by CCleaner - they are usually caused by ASC or Wise Cleaner
Let's check where the files are...

DIR "%userprofile%\desktop\media64"
DIR C:\media64
DIR C:\Windows\Winsxs\media64

Post the results.
Here are some instructions to make life easier :)
1) To open an Elevated Command Prompt Window (the ECP window), click on Start, All Programs, Accessories – then right-click on Command Prompt, and select Run as Administrator. Accept the UAC prompt.
2) To run the commands easier, highlight the block of commands, and right-click on the highlight – select Copy. In the CP Window, click on the black/white icon at top left – select Paste. The commands will run but may not complete the last command, so hit the Enter Key once.
3) To copy the results... click on the Black/White icon in the top left, and select Edit... 'Select All', and hit the Enter key - then use Ctrl+V or r-click+Paste to paste it into your response.

Thanks for sticking with me, NoelDP

I did have Wise for about a week but the update problems were here long before that.
Prior, I only used Ccleaner.

There's a large number of the files missing from the C:\media64 folder, and those that are present are in the wrong place. - please delete it and try again from a fresh download.

Follow the instructions EXACTLY and you shouldn't have problems.

I have followed, I think, the instructions perfectly.
Several times

SFC /SCANNOW gets stuck and stops at 13%.

There are no new CBS.log files for today.

There is one file "CBS" but I can't zip or open it because Access denied.
I should be logged in as Administrator
