How are you guys doing today? i recently reinstalled windows 7

I'm looking for some assistance as far as which updates to install on Windows 7.

Also would like to know how to turn on a feature so the updates will install automatically (If thats safe)

In my optional tab it reads the following(All of these boxes are unchecked)

AMD -Other hardware, storage controller - AMD SATA CONTROLLER

DELL INC -DISPLAY -DELLIN1920(ANALOG)

Update for Windows 7 for x64-based systems (KB2574819)

Update for Windows 7 for x64-based systems (KB2592687)

Update for Windows 7 for x64-based systems (KB2709981)

In my important tab it reads the following (these two boxes are unchecked)

Update for Microsoft. NET framework 3.5.1 on Windows 7 and Windows server 2008 R2 SP1 for x64 based systems (KB2836942)

Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 on XP, Server 2003, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2008, Server 2008 R2 for x64 (KB2836939)

The rest of the important updates are Microsoft Office related (all are checked)

Anyone know if these are safe to install and if so how do i instruct them to install automatically?

UPDATE: I've loaded screenshots so you guys can maybe help me better

Bless.

Thanks in advanced.

Hi Zeek1017,

Welcome to Seven forums.

You should go ahead with all the updates on the system. As updates whether for the drivers or software provide better security and more features to the particular hardware or software.

However, it is always recommended to create a restore point manually before updating the system so that if required you can revert as well:

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/697-system-restore-point-create.html

This tutorial would show you how you can perform system restore if required:

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/700-system-restore.html

Lastly. check this tutorial for setting updates automatically if you wish to do so:

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/2797-windows-update-settings-change.html

Hope this answers your query. If you have any further queries, please feel free to contact us.

Thank you for the information

I've made a system restore earlier today, Windows 7 runs right now and i haven't updated anything yet.

I will go ahead and look at the automatic windows update settings as well. Before i reinstalled windows 7 it would just install updates automatically. A little box with a loading bar would come up at the bottom of the monitor and say "Windows will restart in X amount of time" or something close to that.

I really appreciate all the help. I'll report back with an update on everything.

I installed downloads but my cpu usage has is running around 55% and memory 44%. Is this normal after update? I had a GenericKD virus a few days ago that i got rid of with Emsisoft. Hope it's not around still.

I ran TDSS killer found nothing, Ran Rogue Killer in and out of safe mode and found nothing. Also ran a quick scan of Malwarebytes in safe mode and found nothing. About to run Malwarebytes out of safe mode and see what happens

Any suggestions? Maybe im paranoid and this is normal after updates

Hi Zeek1017,

Processor and memory usage depends on the amount of software that you are running on the system including background process as well.

Try clean boot and check again:

Also, check this tutorial which provides all steps for ensuring better performance for your windows"
