as you can tell from the title, the trouble shooter for windows 10 claims i don't have windows 7 SP1 installed, which i do. and i have all updates downloaded. i can't find a solution online for this problem. every thread i read form a lot of different places claims that it is because i don't meet a requirement. which is false because i have well above the processing power, and i have all updates, a compatible version of windows 7, service pack 1. i have tried all of Microsofts tips to no avail, any and all help is much appreciated.

I kept getting a failure of the update for the Windows 10 files, error 80240020, which didn't get a page on the Microsoft web site when I clicked the links on the Windows Update pop-ups. As the pop-ups suggested, I did a web search on the error and turned this up on reddit:

https://www.reddit.com/r/windows/comments/3eyrre/fix_for_the_80240020_error_when_trying_to_install/

The short story is that the pre-existing files in the update folder were corrupted in some way, and to delete them all, including subfolders, and call a utility to re-download all 3+ GB of them. The folder is
"C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download"
and the utility call is
"wuauclt.exe /updatenow"

Note that Windows 10 is very different from Windows 7 (it's far more like Windows 8.1 with an improved user interface), and that there are gotchas. I'm looking for a topic to post that information if it isn't up already.
