Solved Windows 7: USB install - a required cd/dvd drive device driver is miss

Hi,

I have a known working image of Windows 7 on a flash drive.

However, if trying to install Windows 7 by booting from the flash drive I get "a required cd/dvd drive device driver is missing usb"

I have tried removing and reinserting the usb.

I found a link https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25476/Windows-7-USB-3-0-Creator-Utility

that is supposed to put the drivers for usb 3.0 in the installation files. That did not work.

I have tried downloading the usb files from the manufacturer Acer for usb 3.0 and then navigating to them via browse and found files that showed up, but that did not work.

I also tried installing drivers for AHCI, CardReader, Chipset by clicking browse and navigating to the hard drive. All to no avail.

I am now going to see if putting the USB driver files on the flash drive will work. Would this make a difference? And should I potentially try this with the other driver files as well?

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Why can`t you install with a DVD ?

Another laptop without an optical drive ?

What system was on it ?

I am just trying to test it on my computer just in case I need to use it on a different computer.

It works from a DVD drive.

I currently have Windows 7 Home Premium with SP1 on this laptop.

What program did you use to put the iso file on the usb stick ?

Use Rufus and try again.

Ok, I was just reading the read me information for the USB 3.0 drivers that I downloaded from acer. It says that the drivers are only to be used on operating systems that are already installed. So that is why they weren't working for me.

I was also chatting with someone with intel to see if they could help me with because they have drivers to download. However, they said that this is something that the manufacturer; Acer in this case should help me with.

I used a program called WinToolkit to format the drive. So that isn't the issue I don't believe.

I have already tested the iso in a virtual machine and it works, and it also works via DVD.

I'm thinking I will try to contact the manufacturer and see if they have any drivers they can provide me with.

Alright, I was just on Acer's support site and it says that the drivers that they offer are on the site. If it's not on the site then they don't have it. So it looks like I have found the answer to my question. Thank you AddRAM for your replies.
