Hey a few weeks ago i got a freshly installed windows 7.. works great, everything is good and clean. But last night I restarted my PC, suddenly sometimes when I right click the menu doesn't show up and the effect of the menu disappears. Ive tried searching for viruses and Trojans, a few showed up and avg removed them, but it didn't solve the problem. Also when I right-click. The CPU usage becomes like 80%. Look at the attachments below

see what i mean?

Also, don't think its vista... Its just a theme called Vista VS to make Windows 7 look more like vista

if you have already had viruses on there, you need to

1) reinstall windows, i suspect this is the aftermath of one of the attacks, once infected it really is best to just go nuclear
2) get rid of AVG and get MSE + Malwarebytes, much better (if you want free that is
3) stop going to those dodgy sites where your picking them up, or you'll just open yourself up to problems every couple of weeks

it might, but problem is, you dont know what that virus is hit, how many times it has copied itself, etc. etc. by all means give it a try, but don't be suprised if you see it come back

do yourself a favour, back everything up you dont want to lose (AFTER scanning it with something like Malwarebytes to make sure you don't get the problem back again), and reinstall Windows, once you have it set up how you want it, programs installed etc, make a system image, and then you'll need never reinstall again

you can spend all day fiddling and trying to fix it, or you can just start from scratch in less than an hour, its up to you :)

If you have a virus, what you'll want to do is download Malwarebytes to do a full scan. This is used for post-infection, after the virus has breached your security. If you see that you've been locked out of various parts of your computer, such as the command prompt, or features have been broken, download SUPERAntiSpyware.com | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware! and use it's repair feature to re-enable them.

Once you've installed them, disconnect your computer from the internet so that the virus cannot download more information to spread and scan with Malwarebytes'. Also take the time to make sure that your A/V is up to date.

-----------

Alternatively, if you just want to add or remove those items from the right-click (context) menu, use either of these freeware tools:

ContextEdit is a good freeware you may want to use. You can also try ShellMenuView. It is a small utility that display the list of static menu items that appeared in the context menu when you right-click a file/folder on Windows Explorer, and allows you to easily disable unwanted menu items.

FileMenu Tools lets you add, delete & customize the context menu items of the Windows Explorer.

no problem, tbh if you'd rather not reinstall then Malwarebytes is your best option, i personally go nuclear on the rare occasions i get infected just in case, but im cautious like that

Only way to be sure you've completely reversed the damage a virus has done is to wipe clean and reinstall, especially if you're talking multiple viruses. I STRONGLY suggest you stop using Internet Explorer. Explorer has more holes than swiss cheese, and is like an open invitation for a virus to come walk right in. It's also pop-up city (Talk about annoying). Use Mozilla Firefox instead. It's much safer.

bear in mind that the free version of Malwarebytes is on demand only, (you have to do a scan if you want to find anything, its not real time) i would personally also get a real time AV like MSE, and use malwarebytes maybe once a month in case it misses
anything, http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

well no i wouldnt... but i mean that is what i would do after id wiped it, but you probably won't :)

I do use Mozilla Firefox. You suffered alot from bugs of IE8 like I did, didn't you?

As a previous AVG user, I have to say it has horrible detection rates. Avira was tested to be Amon the highest-ranking AVs out. And MSE is also a good choice. Simply put, your current A/V is not adequate protection.

Actually, no it is not safer. There is one key aspect that Firefox does not do, that IE does. Granted this won't stop user stupidity but it stops automatic catastrophe. IE runs in a super low privileged sandbox making any attack on IE unpractical, the moment you close IE the damage by the attack is cleared away without a trace. Firefox has no such protection.

Granted this sandbox doesn't work if you foolishly run with permanent administrative rights.

Also, Firefox has it share of security holes just as much as IE. Just last week two security updates bumped the version number up another two notches.

I've seen alot of good reviews about AVG, so I thought I would try it out. Basically, The only good review I ever seen is if you've bought a full Version of AVG. Same as norton too, but alot more people support AVG
