Windows 7's first 100 days: So how were yours?

It has been 100 days since the release-to-manufacturing copy of Windows 7 was available for download on MSDN and TechNet. I’ll put this very simply: I have never used an operating system which works so well, is as stable as it is, is aesthetically pleasing, and is a pleasure to use still even after three and a bit months.

There is nothing within Windows 7 which is particularly aimed at students or me specifically. The whole kit and kaboodle focuses on making it an all-inclusive “experience”, but after using it for so long now the experience fades into the background, like a sickly cough in a lecture theatre.

At the end of the day, all you want to do is check your emails or whop out a quick essay. You don’t particularly care about the experience and most of the time you don’t notice the surroundings. Even with Windows 7, this hasn’t changed.

Had it for the last 2 months, and its the best OS from M$ ive ever used, makes it even better when uve used Vista beforehand

Even though I haven't used the RTM version for 100 days, I've experienced no issues and have enjoyed this version.

This will be a great version of Windows, and I'm sure that people will adopt it have forget about XP and Vista.

Am running it at Work atm and have had the 7100 build for a while at home, no problems as of yet.
coming from WinXP Pro which i used for years and years (skipped vista altogether) it took a little time to get used to how things were and WHERE things were.
But once you learn it all, its not bad

I signed up for testing 7 and ran the beta builds until the RCs were available where even those saw favorable results. That's been far longer then 100 days but 10 months now!

In all that time only one program surprizingly a newer version of one used for several years keeps running into problems were XP or Vista(likely Vista) will have to go back on a second drive once that is no longer seeing the 64bit RC still on. Hopefully the 32bit retail version will be able to run the older version of that program rather then a possible need to set up a dual boot of XP/Vista on the second OS drive there.

I am very pleased. Very minor things I had to figure out--but nothing burdensome or complex. 10/10.

More apps hanging with HP than i had with 7260 ( upgraded a few times to get there) but im happy.

Been using the RTM since day 1 essentially, and I couldn't be happier. I used to flip-flop between OS's, but with 7, I'll never be going back to XP or Vista.

Ben using it since the release date,,no problems yet.Wish there was a flash player for 64 bit.Still using xp in a dual boot.But using it less and less every day.,

Hi there
I'm getting withdrawl features -- No new leaks / builds to install .

W7 has been solid and stable - I installed Enterprise from Technet not a glitch yet-- with the latest updates even IE8 works properly.

Still need XP VM however for some legacy apps that won't ever run on W7. (Actually changed from XP VM to a W2K3 server VM -- still runs the legacy apps fine and consums less resources than the XP dessktop OS).

Lovin it. I only boot into my XP to get my anti virus updated. And when in XP it looks and feels very antiquated to me now.

Bought a Vista with free upgrade to 7
One week or so later, I see the TV Offer
for a pre-installed Win 7 (and four times the memory
and twice the speed of the Vista (non-refundable).

The 7 is great (and as has been said, one needs
to get used to where things are.

However I'm not upgrading my Vista right now because
my Mobile Rogers Rocket USB works with Vista
but they (Rogers or manufacturer ZTE have not
come up with a Win 7 Driver, yet.)

Is it that long, I feel as if I've been using it forever
I tried it for a short while when it first came out in public beta then when it launched I had the pre-order copy of Home Premium and installed in a dual boot with Vista. I've only been back into Vista I think once since and that was to do a WET transfer.

I keep meaning to boot back into Vista just to bring it up-to-date but forget, my husband turns the machines on before I get up so by that time it's quite happily showing my screensaver in Windows 7 so I just carry on for the rest of the day.

I haven't come across anything yet that wouldn't work, even my old model printer worked straight off but of course I had to install the software for it as it's an all-in-one and without the software I had no way of keeping an eye on ink levels or access to the maintenance tools.
The next test is to see if my Nintendo Wifi dongle will work as I refuse to lower the security on my router and the DS only does WEP, and I want to download the weekly puzzles for Professor Layton and Pandora's Box.

So my verdict for the first 100 days is very good and glad I got it.

Been using Win7 x64 for about six months now on my home machine. Short answer - Love it... Both as a user and as 'the admin' for our home network I find Win7 very stable and with it's built in support for more devices much easier to deal with in general.

Ironically, I was "updated" from XP to Vista at work about a month ago. There are similarities between Win7 and Vista that make it easier to use both, but there are more annoyances in Vista that make me wish I could run Win7 at work.

Try it with the Vista drivers on 7. You'll like it!

A great deal of the updated drivers are still Vista for a number of hardwares, devices but still work on 7! As far as backward compatibility I manage to get more older XP versions of programs running on the 32bit 7 then on the 32bit Vista previously run including one finally running that will no longer need to see XP or Vista go back on.

Minor issues...most notable the dread 6 second stutter on certain LiveTV channels in Media Center, but otherwise it's just been top drawer. 9/10.
