Windows 8 vs Windows 7

There is no freaking way in hell MS will release another operating system just a year after the release of Win 7. It will take most businesses at least a year to decide and then try to migrate to Win 7. After the bad experience MS had with trying and failing to convince business to accept vista, the last thing they want now is to have them looking past windows 7 to windows 8. That would also apply to most consumers as well. With the economy the way it is you'd be surprised at how many people/businesses are perfectly content with windows XP. Word of mouth more than any ad campaign will be the biggest seller of windows 7 for Microsoft. :shock:

They have (almost) annual Servicepacks. Unlike Apple, MS provides them for free.
I don't think n one year there would be so much improvement jsutifying the users to changes and reisntall everything. And who would buy a new OS every year?
and the 3rd party software, drivers... if it changed every year, then we had trouble! and some chnages are sso dramatic that they need more development. Like new Kernel etc.

I find that the Intarweb is easier to stomach if you just assume everyone else is an anencephalic mongoloid. That way, when people say something bright you are pleasantly surprised.

I agree the question awas a bit useless... but many questions are useless. We should have a policy of " there are no stupid questions". I think I asked some questions I could have answered myself or were just uninformed.

i have a feel windows 7 will be like xp and last several years and if they release windows 8 in the next 3 years it might be like vista and people will love 7 to much to switch

Its going to be 2012 minimum. I am betting on mid 2013. So not two years, 3 or 4. The OS cycle is 3 to 5 years.

I would guess the same thing. They've had a lot of pressure on them to make Windows 7 "right", which I believe they've done. So they will be able to afford to take it easy with the development of Windows 8 really.

Hi all
I might have retired by then (finally) so my only use for a computer might be to play DVD's or listen to the Radio via the Internet.

In any case the whole way we currently use computers is rapidly changing so who even knows or cares what Windows 8 will bring.


W7 will probably be the last "Classic" type of OS release in any case.

haha because it's not even out yet and you're already satisfied...

Imagine in 6 months time when it's gotten boring and old - everybody else will just be getting it for the first time!

I say bring on windows 12!!!
