They have (almost) annual Servicepacks. Unlike Apple, MS provides them for free.There is no freaking way in hell MS will release another operating system just a year after the release of Win 7. It will take most businesses at least a year to decide and then try to migrate to Win 7. After the bad experience MS had with trying and failing to convince business to accept vista, the last thing they want now is to have them looking past windows 7 to windows 8. That would also apply to most consumers as well. With the economy the way it is you'd be surprised at how many people/businesses are perfectly content with windows XP. Word of mouth more than any ad campaign will be the biggest seller of windows 7 for Microsoft. :shock:
I don't think n one year there would be so much improvement jsutifying the users to changes and reisntall everything. And who would buy a new OS every year?
and the 3rd party software, drivers... if it changed every year, then we had trouble! and some chnages are sso dramatic that they need more development. Like new Kernel etc.
