well, i was able to finally get through to microsoft.
i entered the installation id, only to get a message that said they could not verify the installation id
i called them again just to make sure it was the right one, same message again.
so im still looking for solutions

It came with win7 home premium, so why not use the lenovo win7 activation?

You would need to use Home Premium on the lenovo laptop.

i bought a key that i used on my desktop
i no longer have the key from my laptop, i think the sticker has worn off

You can have win7 Home Premium on that laptop and use 7oeminstaller to activate.

i just tried calling microsoft again
they ask me to enter the installation id.
i did, and double checked that it was correct.
they said, it's not correct, while skipping to the next installation id.
they kept repeating this, even though i checked and it was correct.
afterwards, they said it worked, only to say it didnt work.
im getting tired of this crap. they just blocked my key without giving any explanation what so ever, and their activation service is broken and doesn't work.
i might have to buy a new key, but i really dont want to go through this again.
i also tried googling my product key, and its not publicly available anywhere on the internet, as i haven't shared it with people.

i tried buying a new key from various webshops..
they dont seem to work.. its very hard to get a genuine key these days for windows 7 ultimate

i was able to get a key that works by contacting the webshops support
so i now have a genuine copy of windows again. i just hope it will stay that way, so i dont have to waste my time with this again.
if anyone knows why microsoft suddenly decided to block my genuine windows 7 key that had been working for years without any problems, please let me know.

As I explained in my previous post, you could have used slp activation.

If the website you purchased from is legit, you might let everybody know what it is.

also, most importantly, could anyone confirm/reject the suggestion that activating windows on a desktop using a genuine key, then taking backup of the desktop using aomei backupper, and then using the very same backup (same installation, same windows key, etc) to restore a laptop with is what's causing this, could anyone confirm?

GOLDEN rule, the MS servers check if the same product code is being used on multiple devices at the same time

long time since i've seen this on a personal key, as opposed to business.
MS can either
Block the key
show 1 of the comps as non-genuine, there is a specific error code shown in the MGAdiag report

run the tool on both comps, post the output

yes, it seems like they blocked the key on both my desktop and laptop though.. maybe i need to make two seperate backups, one for my laptop, and one for my desktop, with two different keys, to prevent this problem from occuring again..?

Or just backup the activation and make sure you enter the description so you know which is which.

I'm not really sure what you mean with that. But im probably going to have one backup for my desktop, and one backup for my laptop, just to avoid this problem from happening again.

I'm going to buy another key for my laptop, so i have one for both my desktop and my laptop, hopefully this solves the problem. Also, i read somewhere that you could buy a key that can be used on multiple computers..?
