Windows and internet crashes

hey guys,
i would need some help.
i recently downloaded and installed Internet Download manager(idm) and im downloading links of rapidshare with premium account. but from the beginning i had problems because i download a lot!! after downloading 6-7 files idm gives errors about internet connection, althought i im still browsing the web.i try to pause and resume the download but it still gives me the errors. also vlc and windows media player break the frames of movies and i always need restart to fix the problem.i tryed to uninstall the program and reinstall also format my pc and reinstall windows but the problem is still there.
i have to mention that i live in my university's halls of resitends. my room mate downloads with the same way so i dont think that is the network connection so can anyone help me please a googled my problem lot of times but with no answer!!

Rapidshare seems like the kind of place that's riddled with malware. I would so some malware scans to be sure, but also check to update your Network drivers if available, and also test out your system memory with Memtest.
