Hi Guys,

I'm running a Windows 7 Professional and think I've Installed everything that is neede from me and nothing else.
So I'm thinking of a back up.

I Found that there are 2 systems within Windows 7:
- System Resore Points
- Backup & Restore

System Resore Points:
As fare as I understand they are created automatically only (at the Installation of Programms/Updates)
to have the posibility to role back if there is a Problem.
This only works on the installed system.

Backup & Restore:
This seems to be a real backup as the files can be saved to an external storage media.
My question is can I use the created BackUp to restore the System even if I have formated the hard disc,
so that there is no Windows, not even a partition (table)?

Hello MPREv,

The tutorials below can give you more details about each, but here are the basics. Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have. :)

System Restore - Used to create restore points of system files, and previous versions of files on selected drives. It's good for a quick undo, but not as reliable as Windows Backup or a System Image below.

Windows Backup - Used to back up files in selected folders with an option to do so automatically on a schedule. You also have the option to include creating a separate system image.

System Image - Used to completely back up and restore selected drives. By default, all system drives required to run Windows are selected and cannot be unselected. When restored, it will restore the drive to how it was when the image was created.
