Hi everyone,

I Have an Acer Aspire m3203. My hard disk died on my last month, so I bought the exact same model, a Seagate barracuda 7200.

I tried installing windows with my acer recovery dvd's but it didn't work. I tried installing windows with a Windows installation dvd, but it didn't work.

I checked all the hardware according to the advices of the members in the solved post, with the same title. Nothing changed, the install would not complete. I performed all the steps given in those posts without success.

I'd like to repair my computer with your help. Somewhere on the Internet some people said that the installation log was to be found at the panther directory in windows. So I saved it on a pen drive.

Thanks!

Hello zinessio, welcome to Seven Forums!

Start with a look through this tutorial linked below then at the "note" below and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.
   Note

If the installer is one you acquired perhaps the ISO file is bad and another will work; or if you burned it to DVD, another burn is needed, use ImgBurn at no greater than x4 speed with a verify.
If the PC is capable, add the installation files to a USB stick and boot that for the install.

Make sure you are using the installer ISO provided here and burning to DVD or writing to flash stick using the tool in Step 1 and 2 of Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

Please describe exactly what happens when you boot the installer, choose Custom Install, use Drive Options to partition if you wish, or just click Next? At what step in Clean Install Windows 7 does it fail, and what is the verbatim error message if any?

Reset BIOS to defaults, while in BIOS setup set SATA controller to AHCI to try install.

If fail continues try wiping the HD with Diskpart Clean Command.

Description of what happens when using the Acer recovery dvd's

The first dvd is in drive.
Setup is starting up
Language is asked
I choose clean install
It asked for all three dvd's
Install completes
Restart computer after my confirmation
Then windows initializes his first start and I see percentages of it's progress (Under the windows logo)
I get the message that Windows Setup is unable to configure windows with this hardware

Description of what happens when using the a windows 7 dvd or usb
The dvd is in drive.
Setup is starting up
Language, keyboard, etc is asked
I choose clean install
Install restarts the computer and just before is completes, gives the same error message about the hardware.

My preparation was exactly the same as the offered as advice in other topics. I cleaned the hard drive. This took me several hours and I did this several times as I tried to fix my computer several times. But with no success.

Please help me! If anyone needs any other information please just ask.

Diskpart Clean Command does not take several hours, just seconds.

See if this might apply: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2466753

Did you reset BIOS to defaults, set SATA controller to AHCI?

Test your RAM - Test with Memtest86+ for 5-6 passes. Swap RAM sticks, remove all but 2gb to try install.

Try entering your Device Manager during install to disable any erroring device to complete installation: Device Manager - Access During Windows 7 Installation .

You skipped the BIOS reset step in my last post. Do not skip any steps. If you do not understand a step ask back for more help.

Hi Gregrocker,

I didn't mention the bios step before. Everytime I do that my screen starts acting weird. If I restart after that happens, my screen doesn't show anything.

I have tried IDE as wel but I get the same message in the end.

I did the memory check several times now, with no encounterd problems.

I'm waiting to do the device manager step, but I have to wait until I see something on my screen again.

Thanks

HI Gregrocker,

IT WORKED! IT WORKED! The VGA-drivers were messing with the install. This is incredible! Now I want to find out how to use my asus recovery cd's to install all the original files, but that won't be a problem.

Thanks again
