Windows could not format a partition on disk 0

I just got a new hard drive and a dvd drive because both my hard drive and dvd drive both died. So I got it all set up in my comp and everything seemed to be going fine but I keep getting the windows could not format a partition on disk 0 The error occurred while preparing the installation. error code 0x80070057. Is there any way to format my hd from the bios or any known fixes that don't require me to use another computer or windows as that's not exactly possible.

What kind of hard drive? List the make and model. Do you have the correct settings for the drive in your BIOS? Have you tried this?

Are you using the booted Win7 DVD Custom>Drive Options to create a New partition first?

Unplug any other HD's.

Assuming you created a partition first, it is my understanding that the error code you quoted is usually caused by Windows Updates trying to update a driver.

Disconnect any devices other than a keyboard and mouse, disable automatic updating and try again.
