windows could not search for new updates, Code 80070005

I am trying to update my windows 7 to sp1 but I could not find a solution for error 80070005, help would be greatly appreciated!

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data

If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

I managed to get windows update to work, it updated to something like 35% and then restarted a few times without success. now the new error i saw is 800F0826. please let me know if u need anything else.

Both CheckSUR and SFC scans are clear of errors.
Please post your C:\Windows\windowsupate.log file - it should give me some clues.

hi, thanks for your help. i decided to reinstall and ran into deeper trouble, made a separate post, hope it can still be fixed.
