Need some info? I had a problem today and it appears to be between Windows
Defender and Norton Antivirus. I'm running on Win7 64bit and have Norton
Antivirus latest updated version running in live mode and have latest updated
version of Malwarebytes which I run full scans manually on about a two week
basis.

Today, I had some notice from Windows Defender and Norton Antivirus and had to
manually delete them. I ran the full scan with Malwarebytes and no problems.
Norton did it's normal scan and no problem. Probably is a conflict with Windows
Defender.

What is Windows Defender and is it really needed and does it conflict with other
Antivirus programs. How do you disable Windows Defender?

Thanks for any insights/and suggestions.

Hi:

WD in Win7 is a weak anti-malware application and it can create conflicts with AVs.
I've never heard of a conflict, per se, with MBAM.

I always disable it fully from the Control Panel.

Here's how to disable it:

How to Turn Windows Defender On or Off in Windows 7

Cheers,

I don't like Norton or Windows Defender, when I first bought my perfectly used laptop in almost new condition and reset it back to its factory defaults,i t had Norton Internet security 2012 installed and I uninstalled it and Windows Defender enabled automatically and I disabled it completely before installing my own anti-virus software because as MoxieMomma stated it is a very weak program and doesn't protect you very well
