Windows Defender updates after Jan.10 for Win 8.1?

Hi. Sorry, for abusing this forum for Win 7 with this question. Will Defender continue to receive updates or must I install new anti-virus software for my Win 8.1 pc? Thank you.

Dont know yet. MS have threatened to discontinue updates for mse on win7 . Who knows what they will do or when.
I have no idea about win8, perhaps ask on eightforums.
