Windows Explorer .MP3 default Vew - how to change?

By default Explorer lists #, Title, artists, etc., for .mp3 files. What I want is just standard file info, like name, size, date, etc.

I can obviously change this on a per instance basis by right clicking the heading bar, but I want to change the default behavior.

Any way to dumb down Win 7 so it's not deciding what I want to see, and instead display standard info for every type of file?

Another related question is that I'd like to always have "Details" as my default file view, instead of List or Icon, etc. Generally this sticks, but occasionally windows gives me another view type.

IF neither of these are fixable within windows itself, is there a recommendation for an alt file viewer that doesn't have a mind of it's own?

(I really like Win 7 in general BTW, have been using it for years)

Very simple. You'll want to explore two Windows Explorer options you may never have used before. The first is the Customize folder option. You can right click inside a folder | Properties | Customize.

Or, if you right click inside the folder you should see the option " Customize this folder" in the right click context menu.

Whiten the Customize folder options allows you to pick how the folder "looks" based on its content. So just play around with the different types. There are five; General, Documents, Music, Pictures and videos.

You can also customize a folder under the "View' from the top left. And guess what? From the "View" drop down menu is where you can customize those details you are wanting to change. See screenshots:

You might also want to experiment with sorting and grouping items in a folder. You can do this via the "View" drop down or by right clicking inside a folder.

The next option I want to draw your attention to is the ability to sort by clicking on the detail bars above.

Now you know...

Thanks Bree and F22 Simpilot for your replies. Both were helpful and I'm on my way.

I was amused to realize that after years on this OS I somehow didn't know that some of the Windows Explorer menu bar is hidden until you hit the Alt key, which prevented me from seeing some of this earlier. Maybe it's computer usage fatigue, my operating system was CP/M back in the 70's...
