Windows Explorer - No Refresh - Spy Glass on fldr expansion

No reboot.
Went away for an hour and came back, Win Updates had started.
kb4019264 was not on the list of updates.
Problem persists. After the post Secure Mode reboot the initial symptom is creating a new folder in the right WE panel does not display until F5.

Just curious - even when WE will not start at all the Save As dialog works normally. Is WE an entirely different process, even though it looks the same?

Hi Warmbeer,

Windows Explorer is the backbone of the system, all of your programs interact with it at some stage.

I think its time for a repair install -- NO loss of personal data.
(did you download the W7 file Iso i sent you the link for)

Thanks Roy - hope to find time to try that this weekend. I have the fie "Win7_Pro_SP1_English_x64.iso" which clocks in at a little over 3 GB. I think that's the one i need.
Thanks again.

ok, back, decided to do a fresh backup before trying to do the repair.
got the ISO extracted, ran the setup - OK'd the UAC - nothing happens.
Tried it several times including after a reboot. Setup.exe comes up in processes and just sits there.
Tried ending the process and tried again. Same thing.
Any suggestions?

This is more likely to be some problem with the OS than with the explorer program itself, right?
I have another computer with WIN7 SP1 64bit and the programs are slightly different:
Working version - Size - 2,872,320 Created 11/20/2010
Failing version - 2,871,808 Created 9/12/13
Hard to imagine it could be that easy but thought I'd check.
Also, should have probably mentioned before - the failing system is a dual boot system - default boots to Win7, alternate boot would be XP (haven't booted to that in quite some time).
thanks again.

oh - wait - I was wrong - got confused. It is the other computer that is dual boot - not the one with the problem. (I have them on a KVM switch and easy to get confused sometimes).

In any case setup.exe did eventually run after maybe an hour or more. But when I hit Install Now it went to Setup is starting... and has been sitting there for almost another hour. is that expected?
When do I give up and try again or try something else???

Went away for the weekend and left the computer with "Setup is starting..." - came back 3 days later to error:

"Windows could not collect information for the Windows image being installed"

Any ideas?
TIA
