windows explorer (tree view with connecting lines)

Hi, I'm just wondering where you can customise the windows explorer tree view (in the left pane) to display connecting lines between parent and child folders (which I had in XP before I upgraded). If you don't know what I mean then do the following:

Just open up "Device Manager" in win7 and expand one of the items e.g. 'Keyboards'. Its got a connecting line to 'HID Keyboard Device'.

That's what I want in Windows Explorer, the connecting line! If its implemented in the w7 Device Manager view, why cant I get it in w7 Windows Explorer??? I need it. It gets too confusing in Windows Explorer if you got a 4+ level deep directory structure with slightly common folder names and you try to navigate through it. You end up not knowing whats in what...

Any help most appreciated.

Cheers,
V

Hello Voirin, and welcome to Seven Forums.
This was "Simple Folder View" for the Navigation Pane. It has been removed in Windows 7. :(

Hi Shawn, thanks for the welcome and info.

It does seem a little silly that they implemented a similar view in device manager, but not in windows explorer. I'll just have to resort to using xplorer2 as my file manager form now on it seems...

Hope the MS team see the light and bring it back in the upcoming SP release. I don't like having to install 3rd party software as a result of 'removed' features :(

Cheers,
V
