Windows features suddenly empty

Hi My friend has a Dell Optiplex refurbished 790 desktop, We had trouble with integrated sound card went bad, so i installed a Sound card. but that is not the problem, the problem is, I went into the windows features and the window will Not Populate. I have tried all the usual methods to turn it back on etc. Nothing seems to work, at first I thought it had something to do with being refurbished but the computer I am on now is also a dell refurbished and the Windows Features works perfectly.
I ran sfc /scannow, Dism, Check Disk Etc it found nothing wrong!

Any thoughts on how to get it back? Thanks

Welcome to the Forum

Windows Features is to enable or disable some MS applications. It wont help with the Sound card.

To see if the new Sound card has all drivers you must open Device Manager (Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Device Manager)

As I mentioned its not about the Sound Card, I just mentioned that a new one was put in, the problem is>>> windows features is empty and need to know how to get it back? See in my first post what i did to get it back and nothing works. Need an idea on how to get the windows features to populate again? Thanks

Open a CMD window as administrator and type:
chkdsk c: /f
It will say your disk is in use and ask if you want to schedule to next start = yes
Restart
Pay attention on the results, specially bad blocks, bad clusters, bad sectors etc

Back to Windows, open a CMD window as administrator and type:
sfc /scannow

If it finds any corrupted files, fixing or not, reboot and run again

Megahertz07 Thanks but as i mentioned in my Post, I already did all that, the sfc /scannow found nothing nor did the check disk etc.

Is the computer a Win 7 or Win 10?

I can get to Windows Features (on Win 7):
- Typing Windows Features in the Start - search box - Turn Windows Features on and off
- Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features and Turn Windows Features on and off on the left.

It takes some time to load.

The pc was originally windows7 but now is windows 10 I will try as you mentioned again and wait longer for windows features to Populate and get back to you asap, Thank you

if on windows 10 i am told i should be on windows 7 and vice-versa.
it really does not matter as this stage!!!

Try a Repair install
It will reinstall Windows keeping your programs and data.

Either 7/10 the core problem is the same.... there are corrupt windows update files, winsxs manifest cab.
shoot over to the Sysnative forum, they will require you to run Sfcfix, there troubleshooting tool
