Hi

I have a folder that I cannot delete files from anymore and I cannot rename or move them from it. I never used to have this problem with this folder and as far as I am aware, I did not change the permissions or security settings to cause the problem.

I cannot rename or delete in \\Richard-pc\C and its sub-folders but in \\Richard-pc\Users and its sub-folders I can.

Both do lead to the documents folder. I cannot delete from \\Richard-pc\C\Users\Richard\Documents but I can delete from C:\Users\Richard\Documents

There is one folder in \\Richard-pc\c\ I really need to move and delete files from that I cannot access via \\Richard-pc\Users and it is named \\Richard-pc\c\Windows.old\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\recordings . I cannot rename, delete or move files from this folder. I have uploaded screen shots of the permissions from this folder to a webpage at tolga.info/permission.htm

It works in Windows Safe Mode but not in normal mode.

I am using Windows 7.

Do you know the cause of the problem and how to fix it?

Regards Richard.

Hi

Thanks for your reply. I am logged in as "Richard". My computer tech set up Windows and made the main folders like the Windows.old folder where she put the files I had before after setting up a new hard drive with Windows. However, I created some folder after that. As I said, it worked well before that and I used to be able to move files from the same folder that I cannot do now. I have details about the permission settings on a page I created with screen shots at tolga.info/permission.htm . Let me know if there is anything else specifically you need.

Regards Richard.

The windows old folder is a system folder which cant be removed as its protected by windows. So your option is to run diskclean then after first scan tick system files if it finds it it will remove it. Failing that boot from a linux live dvd or any other o/s to delete it
