Hi!
I recently have a problem with my laptop.
After sometime (e.g. 2 hours), everything works extremely slowly.
For example it takes 3 or 4 minutes just to open Windows Explorer and 10-20 minutes for the computer to shutdown (sometimes it doesn't even shutdown).
When I restart my computer, a consistency check is performed almost every time.
I have no idea what may be wrong, so could anyone give me some advice?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Eatos and welcome to SF,

You could run SFC to check the integrity of all Windows 7 system files:

Click on the Start > Type in search cmd
Right click cmd at top and Run as Administrator
Type SFC /scannow at the prompt

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

Also please Run chkdsk /f/r in an elevated command prompt.

Click on the Start > Type in search cmd
Right click cmd at top and Run as Administrator
At the command prompt please type: chkdsk /f/r

(Note: there is a space between chkdsk and /f/r)

Also please run malwarebytes (to eliminate that as a possible cause):

Warning
Do not start the free trial of Malware Bytes; remember to deselect that option when prompted.

Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware download

Cheers, please post back result if any

Dave

...When I restart my computer, a consistency check is performed almost every time!

If by this, you mean its running a filesystem check, the CHKDSK suggested by Northernsoul55 should show some bad blocks.

If it does, hate to tell you this, but that is a strong indication that your hard drive is failing. Very slow real time performance is often the result of repeated attempts to read the same sector over and over. And while that might be repaired on the fly, if it keeps happening, your drive is on its way out.

If you can find out the make and model drive, go to the manufacturer's website to see if they have a drive diagnostic utility (most do), download and install that -- and run it. IF it finds drive damage and your drive is still under warranty you might be able to get a free replacement.
