I have two PC's with Windows 7 OS. The laptop is fine but the Gadgets on the Desktop will not display properly. They appear as "outlines" for a better word. The text part shows fine but the background is vague.

I've searched the Internet and even tried the Microsoft Community which is a joke. :-( I tried every suggestion I could find but nothing worked.

There was one suggestion I didn't try because I was afraid I'd totally mess up my PC. The person said that maybe the Gadgets.exe file was corrupt and said if I could find a copy I could replace the defective one. If I copied the file from my laptop, removed the old one from the desktop and used the one from my laptop would that possibly work?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

There was a problem when Internet Explorer 11 was installed. Do you have the IE11 on that system.

First of all, I will check out the link you sent Brink.

Next, after reading about IE 11 being a problem I spent almost an hour yesterday trying to uninstall IE 11 and never could uninstall it. I even tried Revo Uninstaller with no luck. It didn't even show up in that program. Where do I go to uninstall IE11? Bizarre.

It was not even in the the Programs and Features file.

Was that NOT a good suggestion about replacing the Gadget.exe file?

Just want to move a little slow on this issue because I have a way of messing things up.:D

Thanks.

The IE11 is probably in the updates. That's where I have been hiding it. Question is whether it did come with an uninstaller - that you have to try.

Unbelievable. I ended up Googling how to uninstall IE and it sure was hiding. I never knew it was hiding in the updates. Anyway I uninstalled it and like magic my Gadgets were back.

After rebooting it wanted to install updates and IE11 was one of them. I hid it and all is well.

Thanks to both of you for jumping in to offer help. I'm one very happy person now.:)

I suppose no one knows why IE11 was a problem. Not that I care but it would be nice to know.
