windows has detected an ip address conflict

The "windows has detected an ip address conflict" message pops up occasionally on my wife's Windows 7 PC.
When I check in the event log I see:-

The hardware address shown is the MAC address for my Windows 10 system.
This has me completely stumped. I'd be grateful for any info or advice.

It may be that both your and your wife's computers have the same IP address.

Run the following commands from a command prompt on each computer (you may lose your network connection temporarily during this process):
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

The first command is the equivalent of cleaning out the temp files. The second command removes whatever IP address you currently have. The third command requests a new IP address.

It shouldn't happen if your using DHCP are you using home group as it's an ipv6 IP and if you don't use home group it's not used so disable it as it just adds traffic

Thanks for the responses.

I eventually twigged that it was IPv6 rather than IPv4 related and have switched off IPv6 in the meantime.
We do use a Homegroup but I was not aware that the feature was IPv6 dependent.
