Windows Live Mail Categories Not Saving All Addresses

I noticed that my WLM categories were somehow corrupted and missing some names. When I click the category on the left, in the list of names on the right they are all there. However when clicking edit I notice some addresses are missing. They are also missing when attempting to send mail. When I add the missing addresses and click save they are not actually saved. I tried deleting the category and making a new one and that seemed to work for a while but the next time I logged onto WLM the same names were missing again.

Your advice would be apreciated.

Kind Regards

Chris

The problem seems to have been solved. I suspect the contacts store in Windows live mail was somehow corrupted. When I composed a message on the web interface the group contacts worked correctly. Also when I used Windows Live mail on my laptop signing into the same user the goup contacts also worked well. I figured I needed to rebuild the contacts folder on my desktop computer from the good source on the Microsoft server.

I closed WLM. I found the windows live store folder which is located at:

C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live\Contacts

I renamed the "Contacts" folder to "old_Contacts" and restated WLM which rebuilt the contacts folder from the Microsoft server. That seems to have solved the problem.

Kind Regards

Chris

It seems I spoke too soon and the problem came back again. Sometimes one or more names in the group category would disappear and appear at random from My desktop running Win 7. I now suspect this may have something to do with a second laptop in the house running Vista using the same hotmail Live mail account. For example one day one name was missing from a category on both my desktop running Win 7 and the second laptop. The laptop was set not to sign in to WLM setvices from the options. When I allowed it to sign in then the missing name appeared on both computers in that category. However after I thought the problem was solved it reappeared yet again and some names in the category would come and go as they pleased. Deleting the account on my desktop and setting it up again did not help.

If I start to type the name of the category and then press enter when the category name appears and click on the + sign to expand the names then some of the names will be missing. As a work around if I click on the TO button and select the category from the long list and then click on the + sign to expand all the names then none are missing. However if I do not click on the + sign using this mehod then some names are still missing. I will continue trying to solve this problem and post my findings in case anyone else experiences this.

Kind Regards

Chris
