I'm new to Windows live mail, so maybe this is normal, but to me it's a pain. I have a Windows live account, a gmail account, and a school account (which is actually another gmail account) I am using Windows live to access all three. What bugs me is when I receive email to either gmail account, it also goes to my Windows live account. So if I delete an email in my gmail box, I have to turn around and go delete the same one in Windows live. I want to access all three, but at the same time have only email in my live account that was specifically sent to my live account. Why do I think the "sync" feature has something to do with this, can u disable it??
Any help appreciated!

Welcome errndog.
You need to create separate .pst files for all account. This way, ur email will be properly distributed. Separate .pst files will make separate personal folders. You can rename them as u wish.

If u do not want to do that, then make use of the rules. Create folders for all account and divert email to each folder according to the TO address.

Have you also been into Gmail and set up your accounts properly for forwarding to WLM?

That's the problem, it seems as if my mail from my two gmail accounts is being forwarded to my live mail account.
I understand about the .pst files, but it doesn't make sense why I would need to do that. When you use outlook or Microsoft Outlook, incredimail, etc. etc. you can configure it to allow you to receive mail from different accounts, and they don't bleed over into each other. You get five default folders with Win live mail, so I what I'm seeing when I open Win live is on the left hand side on top is my Win live mail and first 5 folders. Next is my gmail account and 5 folders, then my school (gmail) account and another 5 folders. If I send a "test" email to either gmail account, it will also show up in my Win live account. Any mail that is sent to either gmail account seems to be forwarded / copied to the Win live account.

Ok, I think I'm starting to understand what is going on. I was under the impression that Windows Live Desktop Mail and Windows Live Mail would look similar. I guess that's the way it works all your mail from each account is just grouped in with your Win Live mail.

First of all, .pst files are used by Outlook and have nothing to do with Windows Live Mail (WLM). WLM stores messages as individual .eml files.

WLM has separate Inboxes, etc. for each email account you access.
However, WLM also has Quickviews, which can let you view the contents of certain folders in certain ways, as in All Inbox, All Unread, All Mail, etc.
I suspect you are seeing one of these views.

You can also create rules to move messages into designated Storage Folders, so you could see messages from different accounts in one of those folders.

Thank you Dnorris. I think that is very good advice. I suggest that the poster acts accordingly.
