windows live won't sync with windows phone

Hi all!
Please excuse if this is not the perfect place for this question - but i have been searching high and low for a better forum for days - yet to no avail
my problem is simple: i changed jobs and so my old outlook mail account got killed. yet on my telephone i have ALL contacts from that time perfectly alive. now the question is: how can i transfer the contacts from the phone to either windows live or to a new telephone?
i know that the old phone (windows phone 7) should have synced with windows live - however it seems it did not, as there are no contacts other than the sim entries in the book.

It is probable that the reason you haven't received much help is because it sounds like your are stealing contact information from your old employer. :shock:
