Windows Media Center audio test with SPDIF

Hi,

I'm using HP Pavilion dv6114tx laptop which has SPDIF audio support which is connected to Logitech 5.1 audio system thru 3.5mm three audio jacks.

When i play the song/movie i get all the speakers and subwoofer working fine.
But when i test the audio thru the Speakers Test thru Windows Media Center all the speakers are working except the subwoofer.

Any solutions?

First, S/PDIF is a Digital output. If you are using three audio jacks to connect the speaker system, that is Analog through the sound device's output. Also your Sound Card is not S/PDIF its Connexant according to what I find at the HP web site.

How are you testing with Media Player? I looked at mine and do not see any option to test speakers. The test for Speakers is in the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound and finally the Sound Panel, playback section. You can configure and test the speakers there.

Thanks for your reply.

HP pavilion dv6114tx has a SPDIF. It is mentioned in the manual as well as it is printed at the audio port. There are three port one for mic second for headphone and third for SPDIF.

I have check the SPDIF line in with a stereo 3.5mm jack to define the how the audio is channelising. Each line is sending audio to different speakers. There are three audio input in the Logitech speaker system (M50 Series). I have tested the audio with Creative Sound Card also it is working fine with subwoofeer support (The Speaker System).

I'm using one line in and 3 line out with the spliters.

You will find the Sound Test in the Windows Media Center in the following manner:

Windows Media Center - Settings Tab - General Tab - Media Center Setup Tab - Setup Your Speakers - And the wizard will help you to continue forward. The test will work only if you have proper "Decoder" which will be supplied to you with the system thru a video support software (could be a trial one). By any chance if you have deleted the software the decoder is also gone. In my laptop the decoder is "Cyberlink\SP Decoder".

Once you come to the "Tab" of Test and press the Tab you will hear audio from each speakers.

Ah, you have an older Version of WMP apparently since you are on XP. This is a Windows 7 forum and I assumed you had Windows 7. I have WMP 12 and those settings are not in mine.

I don't find any Logitech "M50" speakers either, doing a google search. I can come up with some MM50's but apparently not what you are using.
