Rar the inf you want me to edit and attach to a post. Download from NVidia's site for desktop model first, if you don't have an installer package. You can overwrite the .inf with mine when I post again with it.

Can you make a correction for me?

You're welcome but see my previous post. You have to download for your model of card, only tell it for desktop model (without m) for Win 7 x64.

Then run it and extract to C:\NVIDIA - close when extraction is done. Installer not needed any longer.
In there someplace will be the inf you have to use Winrar on and attach the .rar to a post.

Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

You're going to have real problems with this anyway because of driver enforcement. You really should be running x86 Windows.

I'll edit it for you and the rest is in your hands. You can download, replace the original with mine and install using the device manager like I tell everyone else.

You'll be waiting quite a long time if you don't reread my previous post better.

Nevermind. I'll make it happen. Give me a few (I'm feeling kind today.)

Here's your .inf - look at my posts to other people and install the exact same way. Make sure you copy and paste this .inf over the original one that you just downloaded and extracted somewhere in C:\NVIDIA

Same hardware id

Hi Torrentg,

I have exactly the same hardware id as Vaio 77 above post:-

PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0426&SUBSYS_9016104D&REV_A1
PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0426&SUBSYS_9016104D
PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0426&CC_030000
PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0426&CC_0300
Sony Vaio VGN-AR51E laptop.
I have just upgraded from vista 32 to w7 but took across all my files and settings - did not do the clean install. Well I have pasted your NV_DISP.inf in the NVIDIA driver folder for the latest desktop driver 191.07 and followed your instructions to the letter. WellI get an error message at the end:-
"Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while installing it.
NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GT.
The system cannot find the file specified ."

I wonder what you could suggest?

Thanks,

Ray:cool:

Right click standard vga in device manager. Update driver software. Browse. Let me pick. Have disk. Browse. Find my NV_DISP.inf that you placed over original and double click it. Hit ok.

Hi Torrentg,

I am doing all this, over and over. At the last, when I double click your NV_DISP.inf and okay it takes me back to the Select the device driver you want to install for this hardware box. Then I am prompted to click NEXT down below the Have Disk button. Then it says, Installing driver software. Then I get the error Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error whild attempting to install it.

Many thanks for helping so many of us tonight.

Ray

Hi Torrentg,

Thanks on behalf af many of us for the tutorial. Well, I went through all your sequence time and time again, using your modified NV_DISP.inf file to no avail. Then I double clicked on "Have disk" by mistake and the drivers started to load. Now I am enjoying aero! Thanks again.

Regards,

Ray
