Windows overriding software preferences

Hi.
First of all I did not know where to put this thread. I figured this would be the most suiting sub-forum for it.
Secondly I couldn't come up with a good thread title, sorry about that.

Here's my problem:
When I use Starcraft 2 Editor I can go into Preferences and change stuff like background color, fonts and font sizes.
No changes I make takes effect, though.

I believe it's because of Windows 7 somehow overriding it.
I tried changing window color and stuff directly in windows, and that worked. (Too bad it also works on everything else, such as web browsers, etc.)

Can anyone help me to change the preferences only in SC2 Editor, without Windows interfering?

Have you tried running the editor with administrative privileges?

Windows overriding the preferences of an application...doubt it.
Try running it as administrator, Run as...

I hadn't tried running as admin.

I tried now, though.
It didn't help. =(

The game is probably trying to store the settings in an area that is now more protected than it was under XP. Could be a file in it's program folder (now a no-no) or worse someplace under /Windows or in the registry anywhere outside it's one allowed key position (tons of old programs do that).

Running as administrator and/or in compatibility mode for XP /ususaly/ works. But if not either an update to the software or from microsoft itself (They release compatability updates frequently) may be necessary to get it working completely...

Doing a web search on "Starcraft 2 editor and Windows 7" might dig up some other more specific clues to a fix.
