Windows Repair Installation for Home Premium 7 64 Bit will not run

Hello All,

I am trying to run a Windows 7 Repair installation and the install is stopping because I have a more recent version of Windows than what is on my DVD. Which is true. I am running Window 7 SP1 and the DVD is just Windows 7.

I am following the tutorial here:

I basically chose an "upgrade" vs "custom" when I was asked about the type of upgrade that I wanted to run. The installation proceeded and then stopped and stated that I had a more current version of Windows than what I was trying to install.

Can I still run a repair install?

I've heard of this problem before.

Not sure, but I think the solution may be to download an ISO of Windows 7 with SPI, burn it to a disc, and then run the repair install from that disk.

Get the ISO from mydigitallife.info.

Let others confirm this as a solution. I'm just going from memory.

Hello Bill,

Yep, it's as ignatzatsonic posted above. You can use step 5 and the NOTE box under it in the Repair Install tutorial to be able to do this.

Thanks folks. You are spot on. The fact that I have Windows 7 Sp1 installed and I am trying to install Windows 7 from a DVD should made me stop and think... but, no. I downloaded a Windows SP1 version and I burned it to a DVD. I ran setup and the installation halted again because Windows found some incompatibilities that I need to address before I can upgrade. For some of the incompatabilites, I am not sure what I am going to do. Too bad there is not just a button labeled "just do it!". lol

LOL, yeah that would be nice. What are the incompatibilities that you are having issues with? Maybe we may be able to help.
