Windows Server 2008 R2. Looks like windows 95?

ok so i guess what im asking is, if i follow this guide

How to Setup a VPN Server in Windows Server 2008 R2

and setup a VPN through windows, will i be able to use the "Map Network Drive' in my computer or will the avalible shared folders/computer appear in the "network" as if i were on the LAN?

Sorry if this has been said, im just trying to clear this up, and according to the above guide, all i need to do is port forward on the router???

If you were to log on via an VPN client you could accomplish this, you would just need the VPN software on the remote client computer. Or if you're just in need of transferring files you could set up an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) server, loads of free FTP server software out there, we use Serv-U. Easy to set up sharing and authentication.

Going the VPN route, yes that would be the proper way of setting it up. When you set up a new connection on the client just set it up as a VPN.
