Windows shell common dll has stopped working

Hi.

I have issues with my audio I think.

I cannot run windows media player.

I checked the playback, and would open it, but I got this:

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

I ran a sfc /scannow

But it didn't helped

What is the culprit ?

Several people seem to have fixed this problem. But the "solutions" were all different. Before trying things I would make a restore point at least:

The restore point available is so new, that it also has the culprit in it I think.

I walked through the link you sent me, but I cannot find anything equal to my issue.

I encountered where I had the issue. It is my playback, that open the dll message as soon as I click on it.

The common denominator is it's an audio issue. I mention Restore Point not to fix your problem but to guard against the state of the machine deteriorating when you try fixes. (IOW, make a restore point before trying any of the fixes you find.)

If there was a direct hit solution I found I would mention it. Sometimes "in the neighborhood" is all you can get to look for clues.

I found it.

I have uninstalled the audio totally form my computer, and after a reboot and reinstall of the audio drivers the issue has went away

Glad you got it going. The "delete the device and reboot" trick is a standard support panacea. Since it's so generic often I forget to mention it.
