So, i have had nothing but issues with windows time lately. It seems that windows has set the time wrong, so i corrected it, but windows changed it back again. It also seems that windows has messed up the date.

Solved by setting my time zone.

How old is your CMOS battery, which is located on the motherboard. A failing CMOS battery does cause time & date failures.

It could be that the CMOS battery needs renewing!

Are you dual booting a Linux Distro and W7?

Windows and Linux handle time differently.

How wrong is the clock? Does it shows random date and time, date is always a many years ago or only hours different (correct minutes)?
Did you set the correct time zone?

As a PC tech, I have to install Windows XX at least once a week. Every time any version of Windows installs it always sets the Time Zone to Pacific Time. I'm in the Eastern Time Zone, so one of the first things I have to do is RESET the Time Zone, then and only then can I set the correct time.


If I have to work on any PC that's over two years old, it gets a new CMOS battery. I don't want any PC that I've worked on crapping out because of an OLD battery. ;)


It's not common, but I have seen cases where the Real time clock on the motherboard has just gone Bonkers. The only repair for that is a new motherboard. :(


OH, and on every one of my 8 computers, I have auto time shut off.
