Windows Update 80070490 and non-KB items in CheckSUR.log

Nah - I misread it - SFC appears to have fixed it by itself. ;)
With any luck WU will work properly now.
reboot, and do a new Check for Updates - what happens?

So the computer is back and I tried updating. Alas, there still seems to be problems:
  • ran Windows Update -> failed 16 updates
  • sfc /scannow -> CBS1.zip
  • ran Windows Update -> failed 16 updates
  • sfc /scannow -> CBS2.zip (12MB so didn't attach)
  • reboot
  • ran System Update Readiness Tool -> no errors in CheckSUR.log
  • reboot
  • sfc /scannow -> CBS3.zip
  • reboot
  • ran one selected update in Windows Update -> failed this update
  • sfc /scannow -> CBS4.zip
Do you have any ideas? I can see log lines about pending renames but I don't know if these are important.
Just a reminder when looking; don't forget that I've been updating the winsxs directories from a regular login session by taking ownership, adding full Administrators permissions, removing added permissions, assigning back ownership to TrustedInstaller, in case this would affect things.

Best regards
Mike

Hi Noel, I understand you are busy. Would it be possible for you to share some pointers on how I could look into this myself?

Thanks
Mike
