Solved Windows Update Error 80073712 with KB3020369

Hi,

I'm trying to apply the update KB3020369 but it always gives me the error 80073712.

I tried to fix it with the Fixit tool from Windows and the System Update Readiness tool but they didn't solve the problem. I have also used the System File Checker to repair damaged Windows files (the first time I used it, it found an error > CBS.log, the last time it didn't find anything).

One of your problems is likely to be the number of Language packs you have installed.
MS recommend a maximum of 10 MUI Language packs be installed.

You have a large number of Missing Component Keys - I'm not an expert on these, so I'm going to call in the cavalry for this one.

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data

If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

Please also post the C:\Windows\windowsudpate.log file

Thanks a lot for the reply. I don't remember having installed many language packs... Could it be an automatic update? Where can I get this information? Let me know if you need any other information.

The file uploaded is too large for my reader to open properly, but it seems to have no problems in the SFC or background data.

When I can find the time, I'll post a fix for the missing payload file that CheckSUR exposed - please upload the CheckSUR.log file (not just a screendump) so that I can avoid errors.

I've uploaded a file - akgaa.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
Please download and save it.

Right-click on the saved file and select Extract all...
Change the target to C:\ and click on Extract
Close all windows (it would be a good idea to print these instructions!)

Now reboot to the Repair Environment - as soon as the machine restarts, start tapping F8 - this should bring up the Advanced Boot Menu, at the top of which should be the option 'Repair my Computer'
Pick that
You'll have to log in with your username and password.

Pick the option to use a Command Prompt
At the prompt type
DIR C:\akgaa
hit the enter key - if you get a 'Not Found' error try
DIR D:\akgaa
or
DIR E:\akgaa

The drive letter in use when you find the folder will need to be substituted (for<drive>) into the following command...

XCOPY <drive>:\akgaa <drive>:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h

(e.g. XCOPY P:\wfire P:\windows\winsxs /y /i /s /v /h )

run the command (it should take almost no time) and when the prompt returns, type
EXIT
and hit the Enter key to exit Command Prompt - reboot to Normal Mode Windows.

Now run SFC /SCANNOW in an Elevated Command Prompt
then reboot and upload the new CBS.log file to your reply

It worked!!! The CBS is too large to attach... but the SCANNOW didn't find any error and I could install the update without problem, is it ok?
