Windows updates keep failing, error 80073712

I have tried multiple things such as:


sfc/scannow


Deleting Software distribution folder (after stopping windows update process)


Windows update troubleshooter (from control panel)


Windows system rediness tool


Checkdisc



I have run malware scans via Avast and Malwarebytes (trial version as I already use avast) that are clean.




I finally gave up and reinstalled windows on a new SSD. A week later I have the same problem/errors. This is a screenshot of the errors I've been fighting with. I am down to 80073712.


Windows Firewall is on, Windows Defender is off. Here's what I get when trying to turn it on. (Capture 2)

I should mention that I saw 80070002 in there. I have tried to re synchronize the time settings just before running your tool.

Hi Itchigo,

I asked you to run the tool because of the last capture
Defender has been blocked in group policy.
No standard user Iso would have that limitation as a preset.
(dont know were you got it but DITCH it)

You also have an activation exploit installed, your running a Retail (gigabyte) motherboard trying to use an Acer OEM factory product key, its a Non-Genuine install, MS has also picked this up- ergo NO updates.

Forum rules state that No further help can be provided until this situation has been remedied.
You will need to purchase either a System Builder or Retail product
